Yuvaa Shetty: From Selling Boiled Eggs To Stealing The Show

Yuvaa Shetty is a name that has quickly risen to prominence in the Tulu film industry, thanks to his breakthrough role in last year’s super hit Daskath. Portraying a powerful negative character, Yuvaa’s performance left a deep impact on audiences and established him as one of the most promising actors of his generation. Adding to this success, he recently won the Best Villain award at the Tulu Film Awards, further cementing his reputation as a talented and versatile performer.

The Spark of Acting

Yuvaa’s journey into acting was inspired at home. As a child, he would watch his father perform impromptu drama during power cuts. His father, a talented and emotionally involved actor, became his greatest role model. “Looking at his dedication towards acting, I also wanted to become an actor,” Yuvaa recalls. That spark has only grown stronger with time.

Choosing Complex Characters

When asked about playing villainous roles, Yuvaa is clear:
“I choose roles based on the depth of their characters’ emotions, so I feel comfortable acting in any role.”
This openness to explore complex shades of emotion is what made his Daskath character so memorable, and why filmmakers are eager to cast him in diverse projects.

Upcoming Projects

Yuvaa Shetty’s calendar is packed. His upcoming films include the Kannada movie Anima, Abhedyam (already completed), and the pan-India bilingual Operation London Café in Kannada and Marathi — for which he even learned Marathi. He is also collaborating again with the Daskath team, “Vrusti” Aneesh’s team Nishith Shetty directional, and working on multiple Kannada–Tulu scripts. Audiences can look forward to seeing him in Pruthvi Ambar’s directorial debut Tulu film, Pettist, Netterekere, First Love Guru, A cricket-themed project and an unnamed web series.

Inspirations

Yuvaa draws inspiration from some of the finest talents across the globe: Prakash Raj, Fahaad Faasil, Heath Ledger, Daniel Radcliffe, Johnny Depp, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpayee, Vicky Kaushal, Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Sethupathi, Vikram, Suriya, and Hrithik Roshan. Their choices and performances have shaped his own understanding of cinema.

Struggles and Triumphs

Yuvaa’s path was far from smooth. At one point, he was selling boiled eggs on the streets of Bangalore to make ends meet, while chasing acting opportunities. He even worked in a few Kannada serials and portrayed a villain in the Tulu film Aaatidonji Dina.
“Daskath was my big break,” he says proudly, acknowledging the turning point that changed everything.

Beyond Acting

A distinction student, Yuvaa had paused his degree to pursue acting. His love for the craft goes beyond performing:
“In the future, I will be very happy to make movies. I love the process of making movies, working with actors, checking their flow — someday I see myself as a filmmaker who acts in different roles.”

Off Screen

Yuvaa plans to get married next year and has completely dedicated himself to the entertainment industry after quitting his earlier business during his appearance on Comedy Khiladigalu, a Kannada comedy show.

“I have decided to be in this industry till my last breath because I am happy doing what I love,” he reflects.
He understands fame is temporary and built on hard work:

“I have seen lots of ups and downs. Fame is not permanent, everything depends on our work.”

Family and Giving Back

Yuvaa credits his supportive family, especially his father and brother, for letting him chase his acting dreams without worry. Seeing many friends leave the field due to family responsibilities, Yuvaa has also started an acting class name “Aangikam”, aiming to help aspiring actors balance their passion with their personal duties. Father Balakrishna Shetty worked for alwa’s collage also a drama actor.

Yuvaa Shetty’s story is one of grit, talent, and unstoppable ambition. From the power-cut dramas of childhood to commanding the big screen, he proves that no dream is too big — as long as you are willing to chase it.
