 6. Pavithra.

Release Date: 5th February 2016.

Nagavenkatesh directorial film Pavithra starring Chirashree Anchan and Sravanth is the only one film which ran for 100 plus days in cinema. Film maker has focused on story with a bit of comedy which is must for Tulu Cinema. Chirashree Anchan was impressive in her innocent role in the film.

Plot: Pavithra ‘beedida ponnu’, as the tag line says is about the life of a girl who prepares/rolls beedi for living.


5. Namma Kudla.

Release Date: 8th April 2016.

Ashwini Harish Nayak, the first feminine director of the Industry. Prakash Shetty Dharmanagara and Ashwini Harish Nayak starred action packed film had a public message that had bit of comedy that entertained the audience. Lead Prakash Shetty Dharmanagara has written the story.Makers of this film are also planning to rerelease this film in the year 2017.

Plot: Action packed film narrates how political parties misuse the youths and make their life a miserable one.


4. Panoda Bodcha.

18th November 2016.

Madhu Surathkal directorial film “Panoda Bodcha” is a milestone since it is the 75th film of Tulu Industry.  Film is a remake of 2003’s Malayalam film Balettan starring Mohanlal. Overall movie looks rich with the class camera work and good direction, worth to watch with family.

Plot: The story is all about how Raganna tries to protect his father’s image by telling lies, which leads to crises in his personal life.


3. Shutterduai.

Release Date: 27th May 2016.

Shashikanth Gatti directorial Shutterdulai is remake of Malayalam movie Joy Mathew’s “Shutter” which was released in the year 2012. Suspense-Thriller film was led by sandalwood actor Jai Jagadish and Anitha Bhat.

Polt: The film narrates Rajeeva (Jai Jagadish) an NRI trapped in a suffocating shop room with a hooker for one night and has to go through anxious moments for the remaining two days.


2. Barsa.

Release Date: 13th October 2016.

Devdas Kapikad directorial film titled “Barsa”. Film starring King of action Arjun Kapikad and Kshama Shetty. Devdas Kapikad was seen playing as Boss of Kapikad. The film was a delicious action cake with comedy topping.

Plot: Prathvi (Arjun Kapikad) a greatest follower of Tulunadu’s daiva Koragajja who falls in love with Swathi (Kshama Shetty) at the young age. Later he leaves town and come back after 14 years. Film narrates story of persecution of the land mafia don.


1. Pilibail Yamunakka

Release Date: 9th December 2016.

K Sooraj Shetty directorial film PBY starred Sonal Monteiro and Pruthvi Ambar is the biggest blockbuster hit of 2016. Film was released on December, from day one this film broke all records in collection. More than the plot film is been liked for the comedy which makes audience ROLF!

Plot: An 80 year old, attitude women named Yamunakka living in Pilibail with her family, her granddaughter Nisha falls in love with Gautham a jobless guy living with his friends.
